Many know L. Young from his viral appearances on YouTube and Facebook, including his #1 Pop Trending feature on ABC’s Good Morning America for his a cappella rendition of Bruno Mars’ 2015 hit “Uptown Funk.” Beyond viral success, L. Young is an accomplished recording artist with a celebrated career spanning decades.

The title track “Love Is a Verb” from ReVerb became L. Young’s first radio hit, reaching the Top 20 on Billboard’s Urban Adult Contemporary chart. In 2018, he released Wrinkles in Time, which produced three #1 singles on the UK Soul Charts.
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, L. Young now resides in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with an extraordinary list of legendary artists, including Stevie Wonder, Seal, David Foster, Babyface, Eric Benét, Aaron Neville, Lalah Hathaway, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Mint Condition, En Vogue, Patti LaBelle, Toni Braxton, Gladys Knight, Keith Sweat, and Teena Marie, among many others.
As a songwriter and producer, L. Young’s credits include co-writing the Top 5 single and title track from Jessie J’s #1 Billboard debut album Who You Are, as well as writing and producing work for Keke Wyatt’s albums Who Knew (2010) and Unbelievable (2011). He also produced “Babygirl (Terry’s Theme)” for B2K on the RIAA-certified platinum Barbershop soundtrack (2002). His music appears on additional platinum-selling soundtracks including Booty Call, Dangerous Grounds, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Dough Boys.
L. Young’s music has been featured across numerous television networks, including BET (Real Husbands of Hollywood), ABC (According to Jim, 20/20, One Life to Live), VH1 (Basketball Wives), and USA Network (Burn Notice). He has also appeared and performed in television, film, and theater productions such as NBC’s Scrubs, Nickelodeon’s Just Jordan, New Line Cinema’s Hairspray, and August Wilson’s Fences.
